Slat Mill fitness
Slat Mills are a great exercise option for many dogs
Explore the benefits of exercising dogs on a slat mill and book in an introduction session below.
-
Slat mills can be inherently scary for many dogs initially. Knowing you can take your time for your dog to become comfortable on a slat mill makes the experience so much easier.
Not to mention, the feeling of overcoming something they felt anxious about helps to increase a dogs confidence.
-
Many reactive dogs suffer from greatly restricted exposure to the wider world, and therefore time to run freely as fast as they’d like due to their reactivity.
The slat mill provides an opportunity for you to allow your dog to run as fast as they’d like with the knowledge that they’ll be safe from off leash dogs and handsy strangers.
-
High energy dogs are the ones that need a lot more physical exercise than we’re usually able to provide them in day to day life. Often we see this in breeds such as Border Collies, Kelpies and Viszlas.
A slat mill allows them to burn off some of that energy, much like we could on a treadmill or other cardio equipment.
-
Many dogs with a high prey drive (a desire to chase or hunt after birds, rabbits or other wildlife or smaller dogs) can’t be trusted off leash and therefore don’t get the opportunity to stretch their legs like they want to.
On a slat mill, these dogs and others not trusted to be off leash can get the opportunity to stretch their legs in the way they really want.
Note: you must book an introduction session for your first session to ensure you know how to use the slat mill safely.
